Foolish Games

Loving at heart -
but lonely in mind
Within hidden rooms
its easy to hide.

Fools rush in
to play the game
Hatred and love
become one in the same

Covering your heart
and living in lies
Deafen the whispers
but not the silent cries

The demons in your head
are reluctant to go
It's easy to play
when you don't even know

The feelings still linger
in the cool of the night
You thought you could kill it
with muscle and might

The truth is you're trapped
in your prison of fear
Hiding and lying
without looking in the mirror

You're convinced this existence
is what it shall be
At the expense of the others
who love you totally

We can't hide in the shadows
Without you hearing my plea

Without facing your inner self
You'll never reach your goal

Of being that person
I know you can be
Who is strong and proud
like the Wye tree

Stop hiding inside
that cave of your mind
Release it now
and stop flying blind

You've stripped yourself bare
For all the world to see

You've made yourself callous
And now are lost like Alice

If you don't soon find
your grinning cat
You'll be forever lost
to the wrestling mat

People are not something
you can toss at a whim
Like Hansel and Gretel
by Brothers Grimm

You cannot love others
Without loving yourself

Ignoring the problem
doesn't make it go away
It's just causing
the utter decay

The chill is upon you
You better hurry and mew

If your soul is lost
You'll be alone like Jack Frost

Empty of you
Oh what to do...…
