Quite sometime ago
And from that moment on
You have watched me grow
From a newborn baby
So precious and small
To a talking toddler
Learning how to crawl
On my first day of school
You stood by my side
Until I got on the bus
When we both began to cry
Through my first sickness
You were there all night
To hold and comfort me
And tell me it would be all right
When I became a woman
You were there for me
Explaining what was happening
And what would be
Through my first crush
And my first heartache
You assured me I would find the right person
Maybe tomorrow or even next week
You were there for me
Through my teenage years
Giving me the space I needed
But still there to wipe away my tears
When I graduated
You were there by my side
Showing how proud you were
As I walked across the stage with pride
But as time went on
I realized it was all right
You were still my best friend
Who was there night after night
Now that I have matured
I have realized what we shared
A lifetime of memories
To show how much you really cared
To see you with your grandchildren
is a delightful sight to see
Knowing that they are here today
as a result of you delivering me.
